2016 Scion FR-S review, engine, price

Categories Scion

This car had recently faced with sales decrease so the company had to do something to boost its sales once more. A decrease from 1464 to 893 cars that were sold this march in comparison to previous year marked a point when something had to be changed. A few updates were made to this car but they are not something substantial and mind blowing. Those are all minor improvements but when you make a lot of small changes and you go a bit into details that can get the job done.

FR-S sports coupe got most of the improvements on the inside and they include new info and entertainment system, center console touch screen, rear view camera etc. This car has specific niche that it is targeting on the market and its target segment is not that large so a lot of the people that wanted this car already bought one and that might be one of the reason for sales decrease, but company is trying to change that with this 2016 model.

2016 Scion FR-S Engine and Specs

Even though there were a lot of rumors that this car was getting a turbocharged engine, that is not the case for this model year and we would have to wait some of the next tweaks for that. This 2016 FR-S is going to keep the powertrain that its predecessor used. That means that under the hood of this car we will find a flat four 2.0 liter engine that is able to produce around 200 horsepower and about 150 lb. –ft. of torque at 6,400 rpm. It will be a RWD drive car and the power is sent to the back through six speed manual shifter, but there is an option of getting automatic gearbox controlled by shift paddles. FR-S can get from 0-100 km/h in just over six seconds which is pretty good.
