Nissan Titan is one of the models that have been on the market the most without being changed. It was released way back in 2004 and since then. New 2016 Titan is only the second generation model for this nameplate.
This Japanese pickup is finally being redesigned and it seems that it will be an awesome redesign. This model is interesting, durable and it will be a worthy competitor in light-duty pickup class. Revealed at 2016 Detroit Moto show, this redesigned model is a game changer. New model is somewhere between light and heavy duty pickup because Nissan thought there is a lot of blank space on the market in that segment. New model is named Titan XD and even though it seems a lot like the old model, the two differ totally.
2016 Nissan Titan engine
This redesigned model comes as a Cummins V8 diesel and it is built to provide power and abilities of a heavy duty truck in a light duty truck. Cummins’ powerplant was built based on a deal that goes back to 2007. That means that 8 years of rigorous testing was put in this machine. Engine is a 5.0 liter delivering 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque. Along with a 6 speed automatic gearbox this car is capable of towing 12.000 pounds but with a better fuel economy than its competitors. Let me remind you: the previous model of Nissan Titan had a fuel consumption of 18 mpg on the highway, and this model will have much better fuel consumption.
2016 Nissan Titan exterior
Nissan designers obviously started with the engine and afterwards designed sheet metal around it to highlight the workhorse at the core of the truck. The truck will be available in 5 colors (magnetic black, forged copper, pearl white, cayenne red and deep blue pearl). For buyers who don’t just want a truck but something more, Nissan came up with the Zero gravity seats which are a product of Nissan’s collaboration with NASA and which were proven to be comfortable in 2015 Murano. Al seats come with capabilities of warming, but only the front seats will have cooling as well and they will be leather-appointed.
2016 Nissan Titan interior
Inside the car, there will be a 7-inch touch screen display which will offer NissanConnect navigation and app suite. Besides that, there will be 12 speaker Rockford Fosgate sound systems set. Shifter has been relocated to the steering column which opened more room for a center console and created more overall space. Cab interior is spacious and filled with luxurious details. There dominate the details of chrome, leather and high-quality plastic.
2016 Nissan Titan release date and price
Release date is not yet determined. The model that was shown is a pre-production model and Nissan officials say that the official model may vary but we don’t think that will be the case. Release date is set somewhere in second half of 2015. There are a lot of things about this model we know except one – its price. Due to many changes made, and the fact this is the first redesign for Titan after ten years we can’t guess what the price will be. We can only wait for it to be released and then we will find out how much it will cost to get this beast.
